Signs You May be Brushing Your Teeth Too Much

There are signs for everything and if you are paying attention, you might just catch them yourself. Brushing too much can actually be harmful to your tooth health. Being able to brush throughout the day is a great thing but doing so too much can actually cause more harm to the outside protective layers of your teeth so it is best to try and only brush in the recommended times.

Brushing is a Great Thing

Brushing your teeth is highly recommended by dental professionals everywhere. Many of them recommend that you brush your teeth two to three times per day, two minutes each time to completely remove the build-up that finds it’s way to your teeth. They recommend that you should always make sure to brush with care, floss, and mouthwash, as well. Get enough fluoride while doing so, as well. The fluoride is what is going to help you have healthier, stronger teeth.

Brushing too hard or too much can remove the enamel from the outside of the teeth, making them less than hard. This will leave them up for damage to be done from the acidic things you eat or the hard things that you crunch down on. You want to make sure that you are brushing lightly, but with enough force to remove build-up and plaque that has found it’s way to the outside of your teeth. Scrub it off but do so in a less abrasive way.
